Independence
The duty is to provide objective opinion. Conclusions are based on the material reviewed and the specialist assessment, not the preferred outcome of any party.
Proportionate scope
The instruction is defined around the issues that require expert assistance, the available material and the procedural timetable. This keeps the work focused and transparent.
Reasoned report process
Reports identify the materials considered, set out the method and reasoning applied, and make clear any assumptions, limitations or matters outside the agreed scope.
Court-ready methodology
Opinion is communicated in plain, structured language so the instructing team and court can understand the evidence, analysis and basis for each conclusion.
Before work begins
A clear instruction supports reliable expert evidence.
Initial review considers the precise questions to be addressed, the available evidential material and the deadlines that matter to the case.
If an issue falls beyond the appropriate area of expertise or cannot be addressed fairly on the material available, that limitation is identified promptly.
Sensitive source material is not requested through the public enquiry form. A suitable secure route should be agreed before it is supplied.
